Today is the day all college football fans around the country have high hopes and pipe dreams of their school landing some big time recruits to lead them to a national championship. I must admit that I'm as much of a sucker as anyone else in getting pumped and believing LSU is refueling and going to win it all again next year. But in the end, everyone knows there can only be one. One national champion. (Note to USC for 2003: One national champion! You got that right. And it wasn't you.)
In thinking about colleges recruiting and putting together the best signing class possible to help them compete and excel on the field, it's much the same way in other areas such as business, politics, pickup basketball games, whatever. Everyone wants the best team that they can possibly put together.
Here's my moment of enlightenment or my little unimportant nugget for the day: God is building a team too. Much like the college recruiting process, He is also looking for the best and finest. Here's the difference: He also wants the worst. The ones that couldn't run, pass, catch or tackle if their lives depended on it. He wants the ones that no one is calling. The ones that don't get any attention. Those that are hurting and broken. That's where the Master Recruiter comes into the picture and works his magic. He can take a nothing and make him into something. He can breathe life into a situation that seems dead and without hope.
Will you help to setup a meeting for the Master Recruiter to make a difference in the life of the overlooked and the hurting? Is your heartbeat for the hurting?
