Calling All Lion Chasers

In A Pit With A Lion
I am getting pumped about the upcoming Lion Chaser series for the Core. Tuesday night I went over the game plan for the next couple months and I also talked about what my expectations are for this series and for each participant.

Notice that I said participant. I am challenging each young person involved to partake and not spectate! For Tuesday nights, I would like for everyone to bring (1) a Bible, (2) a notebook and pen, and (3) their In A Pit book. I also am challenging each person to not miss a week. Not because I am going to punish anyone for missing a week, but I believe that each week is going to be something special where we will be covering one chapter and topic from the book. I would like for each person to read that chapter prior to the Tuesday night meeting. Read the book while jotting down notes of things that really jump off the page to you and that you would like to bring up the following week.

I really believe and am expecting this series to impact each participant in an incredible way. We will be covering some exciting topics and lion chasing skills such as overcoming adversity, unlearning fears, embracing uncertainty, calculating risks, seizing opportunities, defying odds and looking foolish.

There are only a few copies of the book still available. I purchased a case of them so we could sell them at a discounted rate of $10/book. (Once the case of books is gone, you can still grab a copy from LifeWay Christian Bookstore or from Amazon.) Don't miss out! Grab a copy of the book, your Bible, a notebook and pen, and join us on Tuesday nights for a life changing time!

Do you have what it takes to be a Lion Chaser?

BAM! Bowling Night on October 27

For all of you Core members out there, we will be going bowling on Saturday, October 27 from 7:00-9:00 PM. We will meet at our house and then carpool to the bowling alley. But here's the deal: this is no ordinary, plain jane, vanilla bowling night. That's right! We're kicking it up a notch. BAM! Emeril Lagasse-style. How so you ask?

We are going to be bowling in costume. Come up with the craziest, most impressive, slammin' costume and wear it! If you love the '70s, wear a huge afro wig, huge bell bottoms, and work it! The only restrictions are to dress modestly and avoid costumes such as ghosts, goblins, witches, etc. Pretty much anything dark and evil. Oh, and don't forget that you will be bowling in it!

I need as many of you as possible to RSVP by Sunday, October 21 so I will have an idea of how many people are going. We need at least 15 people in order to reserve lanes ahead of time. Come, bring a friend, and I think we can more than exceed 15.

If we have enough people to make reservations, we can receive a group rate: $18/person will get you 2 hours of bowling (with rental shoes) AND pizza, chips and dip, and a drink. For any additional questions, give me a buzz or drop me an email.

Back in the Queen City

What a week it has been! Miriam and I have been out of town for the past week visiting friends and family back home in Louisiana and Mississippi. I must have logged over 40 or 50 hours of driving in that week. We were able to catch the LSU game versus Florida and were able to eat at a few of our favorite places. All in all, it was a great trip but definitely not a restful vacation.

We took lots of pictures that I will post soon. I even took pictures of beinets and blackened gator. You know you're missing home when you even take pictures of the food!
