Not Settling for Good

In our walks with God, much of our time is spent making sure that we do the right things and that we do not do something wrong or sinful. There is nothing wrong with that in itself, but it is only a piece to the puzzle of our life. Doing the right thing is always a good thing. But the question that has been challenging me the past week is this: what areas of my life have I settled for the good when God wants me to have the best?

In order to reach the highest of heights and to be closer to God than ever before, am I willing to risk the good in order to obtain the best? It is so easy to become satisfied where we are and even convince ourselves that where we are at that moment and what we have at that point in time is all we need. I’m not making an argument to obtain everything you can and to be selfish materially, but I am making a case for whether or not we settle for less than the best in our lives, especially spiritually.

Just like the servants entrusted with the talents, I believe God wants us to be counted faithful and take risks in our lives so that we can break out of the mundane and enter into the extraordinary. I’m asking God what risks I need to take and to show me where I’ve settled for good when He wanted His best for me.

Will you settle?
