A Guilty Laugh

Have you ever felt a little guilty for the things you find funny at times? I have an uncanny ability to find humor in the unlikeliest of places, particularly in things people do. Miriam does her best to keep me in line and to tell me that I shouldn't laugh at some things (or people). Sometimes I can't resist.

Can we really feel too ashamed though? I ran across this super slow motion video on Digg and couldn't help but laugh. I bet you have imagined giving someone one of these, especially if it was on video and you could watch it over and over again. You can admit it. I know I'm not the only one.

Oh, the beauty of it all.

Easter in Memphis

Miriam and I are so excited about spending our Easter weekend in Memphis. We caught a flight from Charlotte to Memphis this afternoon and the McQueens (my in-laws) picked us up from the airport. They drove from north Louisiana to meet us here and claim to want to visit with us, but we both know that they were dying to spend some time with Ian.

Thanks to Dan Lord from The Life Church of Memphis for helping to schedule our time while here. If the trip is half as good as the ribs we had for lunch, then we're in for a treat.

Be sure to take time to reflect on the death and resurrection of our Saviour over this weekend and not just get wrapped up in chocolate bunnies and eggs.

Recommended News

I've added a new section titled Recommended News. There are a number of blogs and sites that I read daily. Some of the news postings are so good that I hate that you miss out on them.

But not any longer. Now when I read a great news story or blog posting, I can share it with you! Be sure to check out this section on occasion.

re:mix

As I've mentioned in a previous post, going to a Christian bookstore to me is like putting a kid in a candy store. I enjoy skimming through books and seeing what's new on the music scene.

Since I rarely listen to the radio and almost always listen to my iPod, I'm not necessarily aware of the newest CD releases. I depend on my prior music exposure and word of mouth to make my decisions to pick up new stuff or even occasionally pick something up out of curiosity.

Here are a few tidbits from my purchases over the weekend:

  • Hillsong London - Jesus Is re:mix
    • I have the original CD and thought that the re:mix would be a decent pickup, especially since it was less than 10 bucks. Even though this is a re:mix CD, it only slightly resembles the original material. I would venture to say that the songs have been reworked to such an extent that it's new material that stands on its own. And that's not a bad thing. I listened to this and got a completely different experience since it contains dance and electronica versions of the songs. It's not some cheesy dance music though; these are done well. Pick this up if you want something outside the box in your music collection.
  • Jared Anderson - Where Faith Comes From
    • There are certain artists that I have to pickup their newest releases and Jared is one of those artists. You may not recognize his name but you may recognize some of his songs from your church's worship set. He has penned some of the newer congregational worship anthems ("Amazed" and "Rescue" to name a couple) . He's a singer/songwriter similar to a Chris Tomlin but who leads from the keys. He has also written and led songs on CDs for Desperation Band and New Life Worship.
  • Deluge - Live From Bethany World Prayer Center
    • I picked this one up solely based on it coming out of Bethany in Baton Rouge. I have to do my part in supporting music coming out of Red Stick. Jonathan Stockstill has some pipes, man! And he's coming into his own in leading worship and writing music. What can you say? The boy's got soul. I'm currently listening to this CD; so far, so good.
