Testimony began today in the first-degree murder trial for the driver who was involved in the death of my cousin, Aaron. Join with me as I pray for peace and for justice. Bobby and Terry, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you guys.
UPDATE: Sanchez Brumfield was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. The jury delivered the guilty verdict in only an hour or so and then deliberated the next day in the penalty phase of the proceedings. They came back with the death penalty rather than a life sentence. The shooter, Tracy Young, has not stood trial yet. It's incredibly sad how bad decisions by two people on one night have hurt so many families. I pray that healing and peace reign in the hearts of the Arnold family and also the Brumfield family.

Memorial Day Weekend
Wow! This has been a busy week. Work has been atypical due to Charlotte gearing up for this weekend's NASCAR race and the fact that Speed Street is literally right in our parking lot. Our office administration building has been pounding with nearby sound systems and concert stages blasting us. The bright spot about it being so close is that we have not bought a drink or a snack all week. We just walked outside and grabbed what we wanted from the various vendor booths. It's been a Capri Sun week.
Some major milestones in finishing projects around the house were accomplished this week. Now I can actually list what is left to do by memory rather than having to read the list. I'll be so incredibly glad when the house is totally finished.
We're off to have tacos with some friends of ours tonight, and I will be catching the UFC fights tomorrow night. Gotta love those guy nights that involve chicken wings and the adrenaline of watching someone get pummeled.
The rest of this long weekend? Well, I'm not sure what the plans are. The wife is sure to have that taken care of. I'm sure she just hasn't told me yet what I will be doing. Not that I don't wear the pants around our house. You married folks know what I mean.
Have a great weekend!

Almost Cool
Almost cool but not quite. That's how I feel as I type my first blog post from a Mac. Pretty cool but not as cool as it could be. I'd feel cooler if it were one of the new Intel Macs, but hey, it's a start.
My biggest complaint so far with installing software and using the Mac is that I'm not up to speed with the best of breed Mac applications. I've been using and supporting Windows environments for so long that it's all I know. I can pretty much tell you what applications to use for what purposes on a PC. I'm sure that I'll be an OS X pro in due time.
If you're using a Mac, what are your essential apps?

Sinus Trouble And Home Updates
So why haven't I posted many entries of late? Two reasons: my allergies and sinus problems have been kicking my derriere and finishing up projects around the house has been kicking my derriere too.
Apparently I may be as hard headed as Miriam claims I am. I haven't been taking my allergy medication other than when I'm not feeling completely up to par. That approach got the best of me over the weekend and I had one of my worst allergy and sinus bouts ever as a result. I finally feel like I'm over the hump and am getting better.
And I'm feeling better just in time to come home after work to work on projects around the house. The biggest project of finishing the ceiling in the kitchen is 99% done. Now just a few more projects and I'm done! I'm definitely closer to that finish line than I was 3 weeks ago; you can't imagine how happy we will be when it's all finished.
Maybe Miriam and I should find a way to celebrate when we are finished. Any ideas?
